What a Joy!
THE HOT SHOP
The airplane taxies to runway then accelerates full throttle for lift off.
The motors roar and your ears vibrate then rumble from the thunderous engine boom that holds steady to ascend thirty thousand feet up. What a thrill! Now take away the jet and with shoes on the ground, walk into a hot glass studio. You will hear a similar loud cacophony blend into an industrial din of furnace blasts, music roar, tools bang, glass break and excited artists yell to create an impromptu symphony, Bravo! To gather or pour molten glass into a shape or mold is to ladle and tame the earths core. Rock liquified by intense heat from a crucible that ignites fire, vapor, smoke, and encourages the imagination to thrive is the hot glass experience. The brilliant glow of the kiln will match a nova explosion and captivate the onlooker even before the choreographed razzle-dazzle of a skilled glass worker begins.
